Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band from Gdańsk, founded in 1991 by Adam “Nergal” Darski. Initially rooted in traditional black metal, the band quickly evolved toward a more technical and brutal sound with Satanica (1999), followed by genre-defining releases such as Demigod (2004) and The Satanist (2014). These albums reshaped the landscape of modern extreme metal.
Known for their theatrical visuals and lyrics inspired by satanism, occultism, and mythology, Behemoth built a reputation as fearless provocateurs. In 2010, Nergal’s battle with leukemia only intensified the emotional depth of The Satanist. Since then, the band has continued to evolve, delivering monumental works like Opvs Contra Natvram (2022) and The Shit Ov God (2025).
The current lineup features Nergal (vocals & guitar), Inferno (drums), Orion (bass & backing vocals), and Seth (rhythm guitar & backing vocals). Together, they embody uncompromising extreme metal — blending precision, symbolism, and dark grandeur.
