Alternative Rock

Garbage is an alternative rock band formed in the mid-90s, led by the magnetic Scottish singer Shirley Manson and three accomplished American producers: Butch Vig (famed producer of Nirvana’s Nevermind), Duke Erikson and Steve Marker.

Their self-titled debut album (1995) instantly defined their identity — a distinctive blend of distorted guitars, dark electronic layers and seductive pop hooks. Tracks such as Stupid Girl, Only Happy When It Rains and Push It became 90s anthems. Visually, Garbage stood out with bold, glitch-inspired aesthetics that echoed the industrial tones of Nine Inch Nails.

With Shirley Manson’s captivating voice and a production style both sharp and sensual, Garbage remains a symbol of 90s alternative elegance and fearless experimentation.
