Formed in Toronto in 1968, Rush became one of the most influential bands in progressive and technical rock. Consisting of Geddy Lee (bass, vocals, keyboards), Alex Lifeson (guitar), and Neil Peart (drums, lyrics), the Canadian trio built a dense, intellectual, and virtuosic body of work.
The band made a strong impression in the 1970s with landmark albums such as 2112, Hemispheres, A Farewell to Kings, and Permanent Waves — blending sci-fi storytelling, spectacular musicianship, and philosophical lyrics. Neil Peart, who passed away in 2020, remains regarded as one of the greatest drummers of all time.
Rush leaves behind a monumental legacy, both cult and revered, within the worlds of progressive rock, hard rock, and technical metal.
