Bannière Sepultura

Thrash Metal

Formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte, Sepultura stands as one of the cornerstones of Brazilian metal and a major force on the international scene. Originally founded by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, the band quickly gained attention with its explosive fusion of thrash metal, death metal and tribal rhythms. Early albums like Morbid Visions (1986) and Schizophrenia (1987) laid the groundwork for their meteoric rise, confirmed by cult releases Beneath the Remains (1989) and Arise (1991), both considered genre-defining classics.

With Chaos A.D. (1993) and especially Roots (1996), Sepultura achieved worldwide recognition, daring to merge indigenous percussion, groove metal and raw social anger. Despite Max Cavalera’s departure in 1996 and Igor’s in 2006, the band carried on with Derrick Green on vocals, channeling renewed energy and conviction. Through albums such as Dante XXI and Quadra, Sepultura keeps pushing its vision forward, combining powerful political messages with relentless stage energy.
